Billy Eidi master class on the 28th of February 2017


 On the 28th of February 2017 French/Lebanese pianist Billy Eidi visited the school of music to give a piano master class to it's students. 


Billy Eidi is a French pianist born in Lebanon in 1955. He undertakes his first musical studies in Beirut where he gets his diploma aged 15. At 20 he decides to move to France, having fallen in love with the music and culture of the country. He studies the art under Magda Tagliaferro, Jack Coulaud and Jean Micault, and then wins many awards. Among them the  Licence de concert de l’Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, Second Price of the Concours international Viotti-Valsesia (1981), first price of the best singing/piano playing team at concours international Francis Poulenc, and Lauriat of the Menuhin Fondation.  He also won the Grand prize at the Charles Gros Academy, and the Grand Prize at the Nouvelle Academie Du Disque Francais in 1993.

During his worldwide concert tours, he promotes music of the romantic and French genre of the 20th century; he likes to introduce unknown artists and pieces. His passion for French music drives him forward towards promoting and reworking the genre.

Billy Eidi teaches at the CNR of Paris, at the CNSM of Lyon and at the Academies internationales d’ete in Nice and Nancy. He is regularly invited to give masterclasses in France as well as abroad.
